05 Nov #Resist or nuuuh!? Social media lit after product boycott call
After National Resistance Movement urged Kenyans to to boycott products from companies it claims are supporting Jubilee, Kenyans on Twitter and other social media platforms got a chance to express themselves using satire and of course abusing language…it’s never that serious when it comes to social media. But national interest matters calls for some sort of seriousness.
Most of the social media conversations were humorous but others were just trying to outweigh their opponents in a battle of tweets and memes. Some people got an opportunity to pitch their products which are meant to act as alternatives to the boycotted brands. The minority who were termed as an ignorant group of persons claimed that the common mwananchi will suffer and the political class will continue to enjoy their billions.
The National Resistance Movement on Friday the 3rd, gave its supporters a list of companies to boycott; Safaricom, Bidco and Brookside. The supporters were also given five days to find alternative products.
Here are some of the social media comments.
